We did not get off the ship in Nassau because we'd been there before and wanted to use the time to enjoy the ship's amenities. Like Jill and her family, my sister and I didn't spend any time inside the pools because they were constantly filled with people. There's also a children's splash zone inspired by "Toy Story" and the AquaMouse water ride that wraps around the ship. There are four on the main deck that face a giant TV screen, three pools on the deck above, two adults-only pools, and a "quiet" pool on the top deck. The market was also extremely crowded, with adults and children carrying giant plates of food every which way.

Finally, there's 1923, a restaurant inspired by Walt Disney Studios and the year the company was founded. Our table, which consisted of six girls in our mid-20s, was even chosen to form a conga line and sing "Love Is an Open Door" for the entire restaurant — an experience I'll never forget. Animator's Palette is animation themed, with rudimentary black-and-white drawings on the walls that take shape with more color and detail as dinner progresses. The "Beauty and the Beast" theming was so subtle it was almost nonexistent, but I enjoyed the classic, slightly formal atmosphere. Rapunzel's Royal Table had a ceiling aglow with the sun-embossed lanterns that are the hallmark of the movie the restaurant is named for. We didn't find ourselves hungry until later in the day because we snacked so much at buffets, and the later spot gave us more time to participate in activities.
Disney Cruise Ship Classes
Disney Cruise Line has come a long way since its first ship in July 1998, marking its 25th anniversary in July 2023. The first voyage of the Disney Magic set sail from Port Canaveral, marking a new and thrilling chapter for Disney. Following the success of Disney Magic, the Disney Wonder embarked on its maiden voyage in 1999, and Disney has since added more ships to its fleet. The latest addition, yet to be named, was recently acquired and is expected to be unveiled in 2025, with Singapore as its home base.

Wait until 2026 and you will have to sail on eight Disney Cruise ships to get your Grand Slam title including the brand-new Disney Adventure. From having just four ships not so long ago, DCL is now becoming a major player in the cruise industry with a rapid expansion of the fleet. While there are no Disney cruises exclusively for adults, there are plenty of dining options, bars, excursions, and perks geared towards adults on each cruise. Disney Wish is the newest Disney Cruise ship, launched in the summer of 2022. For its inaugural season, the ship focuses on 3- and 4-night Bahamian itineraries sailing from Port Canaveral (FL), with visits to Disney’s Castaway Cay and Nassau.
She is currently the only ship in the cruise line's Triton Class, although her sister ship -- Disney Treasure -- is planned for 2024. Since its inception in 1998, families around the world have experienced magical vacations onboard Disney Cruise Line. The two new Triton-class vessels will be roughly the same size as Disney Wish.

Each of the Disney Cruise Line ships has unique features, including their own themed restaurants, their own shows and their own water parks. The two other Wish-class ships that are due to launch for the fleet in the next couple of years will be a similar size to the Disney Wish, and are expected to have a similar guest capacity too. The starboard side is also usually the side that faces Castaway Cay when the ship is docked there (though this will always depend on conditions at the time of docking). The starboard side is the right-hand side of the vessel, while the port side is on the left. Like the other Disney cruise ships, Disney’s It’s a Small World Nursery, Oceaneer Club, Oceaneer Lab, Edge, Goofy’s Sports Deck, and Vibe are geared to kids of all ages.
The newest Disney ship is Disney Wish which is due to enter service in July 2022. The new Disney Cruise Line ships scheduled to debut in the future are the Disney Treasure (2024), Disney Destiny (2025), and Disney Adventure (2025). However, the Wish does have a unique design where there are only two elevator banks, with none in the midship. Because of this, you may feel that you are walking around a little bit more than you should. The unfinished and as-yet-unnamed ship, which originally was designed to hold 9,000 people, became available for purchase after Dream Cruises went out of business.
An adults-only area of the ship is dubbed The District and it offers a variety of bars, lounges and nightclubs with various themes and offerings. The three biggest Disney cruise ships also are home to kiddie waterslides, deck-top kiddie play areas and several pools a piece. The ships' insides are loaded with huge children's play areas, family entertainment and even adults-only venues. The Disney Dream is our pick for the best Disney cruise ship for adults.
Disney cruises are, hands down, the best in the industry when it comes to sailings for families with children. Finally, if you're an adult who's hoping to steer as clear of children as possible while still enjoying your own Disney experience, know that Disney Fantasy has a tremendous kids club. It features Andy's room from "Toy Story," as well as a Tinkerbell-themed play area and the Marvel Superhero Academy, where little ones can learn to fight crime.
From their colorful ships to the very high customer service standards that Disney offers, a Disney cruise is perfect for kids (and adults too). In 2007, they announced the building of two new cruise ships – Disney Dream, which launched in January 2011 and Disney Fantasy which started operations in 2012. Disney Cruise Line has an active fleet of four cruise ships with a further three ships on order (Disney Wish and two currently unnamed ships). The biggest Disney cruise ship in the fleet is the Disney Adventure, which is currently being built and will begin sailing in 2025 from Singapore. Guests on all of the ships are assigned a dining room head server, server, assistant server, and stateroom host.
In both cases, these vessels are 40% smaller than Disney's biggest ships. As a result, they have fewer deck-top activities and interior venues than the biggest Disney cruise ships. They also have a much more intimate feel that many Disney fans love.
Each Disney cruise ship has a bronze statue of a character in the atrium. Since this is the original Disney cruise ship, the Magic's statue is Mickey Mouse dressed as a helmsman steering the wheel of his ship. Disney Magic is the oldest of the fleet, having been launched in 1998.
Global Dream has been sitting unfinished at the former MV Werften shipyard in Germany since the shipbuilder filed for bankruptcy earlier this year because of the pandemic. Disney plans to work with another of the country’s shipbuilders, Meyer Werft, to finish the construction of the boat. Once complete, the ship will be renamed and decorated with the Mickey Mouse-inspired colors found on the rest of Disney Cruise Line ships, according to a press release. This ship has not yet been named and at the point this guide was updated in September 2023, we don’t have any details of when construction or sailings will begin.
Wondering what it’s like to sail on both the biggest and smallest ships? While the magic of the cruise line is consistent, there are some definite differences that you will want to be aware of before booking. As such, it's the standard across this cruise line and all others. That makes it easy to compare ship size across ship, class, cruise lines and more.
